Huntsville Ave House Fire

These pictures are from another fully involved house fire in Brighton that Lipscomb was called to assist with. This fire occurred 8 Apr 07.

The fire was so hot that while Brighton was trying to setup their attack lines the heat burned holes in their lines.

This was in the 4100 block of Huntsville Avenue in Brighton.

9 Charleston Firefighters LODD

Charleston Fire Department

Charleston media is reporting that 9 Charleston Firefighters were killed this evening during a roof collapse at a sofa warehouse fire. Witnesses on the scene reported hearing a MAYDAY over the fire department's radios and a firefighter asking that his wife be told that he loves her.

"Nine brave, heroic, courageous firefighters of the city of Charleston have perished fighting fire in a most courageous and fearless manner, carrying out their duties," Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley said at a morning news conference. "To all of their loved ones, our heart goes out to them."

Train vs. Truck

Sylacauga Ambulance

Shane Caton sent the following pictures from a train vs truck MVA he ran March 20, 2007, on Gene E. Stewart Blvd. off HWY 280 near the Sylacauga Airport.

Around 6AM, a train that had just hooked up was starting off slowly. The driver of the truck did not see it and was struck at about 20 mph. No one was injured.

2007 Explorer Comp. - Pt 2

2007 Fire Explorer Competition

Explorers from across the metro Birmingham area, Mobile and a few teams from Georgia came together to display their training. Teams competed in a rapid dress (PPE) course, ladder raising, CPR, spinal immobilization, make and break and Paramedic biking.

The year is the 4th year Trussville Fire has organized the event. There were about 100 youth that participated.

Westwood / Forestdale Post 209 led the winners column this year.
