Birmingham News

Brighton Fire Chief Antonio Marable is in the burn unit at UAB Hospital recovering from injuries suffered in a house fire, Deputy Chief A.J. Cooper said tonight.

Marable was listed in fair condition tonight, said Gail Short of UAB media relations.

Marable was injured in a fire that destroyed the house at 1929 McClain St. on Saturday afternoon, Cooper said.

The Birmingham and Lipscomb fire departments also responded to the fire, and a Lipscomb firefighter pulled Marable from the fire, Cooper said.

"We're all praying for him," Cooper said. "We hope he has a speedy recovery."
