Redbird Units Respond

117th Air National Guard

One of the KC-135's based at the 117th ANG at the Birmingham Airport reported smoke in the cockpit. All the Redbird units responded.

Here are a few pictures. I apologize for the fence. I was taking shots from the car as fast as I could before the Military Police came by and ran me off. They don't let anyone park on the side of the road on the end of the airport near the base anymore.

Redbird 20...

Here's a copy of the picture above. I tried to remove the fence to give you a better view of the apparatus...

Station 11 Picture

For the person looking for Station 11, this is the only picture I have. I've been told that the building that housed Station 11 no longer exists.

If anyone has pictures of Station 4 or Station 11 when they were being used I would LOVE to see them. I would appreciate getting to see them more than you know. I won't post them if you would rather I don't.

The picture comes from the Birmingham Fire Department (1872-1972) Centennial Annual and belongs to them.

Birmingham Station 4

This is a picture of Birmingham's old #4 located in the 200 blk of 24th St N.

It's not hard to picture the old engines sitting out front as men and women walk by in suits and dresses with hats on.
