MVA with Entrapment

Birmingham Fire & Rescue

A freak accident ended with a man being trapped under an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Pike Road and Ensley Avenue.

According to witnesses on the scene, the driver of the car was sitting at the red light when he was rear-ended and pushed under the truck that was crossing in front him.

Birmingham firefighters worked fast to free the victim from the tangled metal without causing more harm. Once freed, the patient was transported to a local hospital.

On-scene units included: Engine 16, Quint 20, Rescue 16(?) and Battalion 1. 1's Heavy Rescue was cancelled en route.
