Center Point Fire & Rescue is remembering Rickey Davis on, this, the 7th anniversary off his loss in the line of duty. Rickey died April 20, 2000 fighting a house fire in Center Point when the floor collapsed.

Firefighter Davis, who also worked for Homewood Fire & Rescue, was 33 years old.

Firefighter Benefit Ride - Saturday

Firefighter Brandon Luckado

Brandon Luckado is a firefighter for Weaver Volunteer Fire Department. He has been with them for 13 years. He also works at the Anniston Army Depot as a firefighter. He has two daughters and a wife. One of his daughters, Angel Lynn, has cystic fibrosis.

Last month, he lost his house to a fire. He also lost all the medical equipment for Angel Lynn.

Jason Strickland is putting this ride together to help raise money to meet any need the family may have. This should be a pretty big event.

Ride will begin at Custom Cycle on Hwy 78 in Oxford. The ride will go to Cheaha State Park and will end at Weaver City Park. Weaver Volunteer Fire Dept. will provide lunch.

From Birmingham, take I-20 East to Exit 179, Munford/Coldwater. Turn left (North) and go to US 78 where you will turn left (West) again. Ride starts at Custom Cycle.

Train vs. 18-Wheeler

Birmingham Police Department

Birmingham Police responded to a wreck involving a train and an 18-wheeler on the tracks at Amber Hills Road off Floyd Bradford Road this afternoon. As you can see in the pictures below, the train struck the center of the trailer knocking it off the tracks.

There were no injuries reported.
