I-59 Motorhome Fire

Bessemer Fire Department

Bessemer Engine 1, Engine 4, Engine 5, Rescue 5 and Car 10 responded to a motorhome fire on I-59 southbound at exit 104 around lunch time this afternoon. Upon arrival, the motorhome was well involved and there was nothing Bessemer firefighters could do to save it, no matter how hard they tried.

Southbound traffic was stopped while firefighters knocked the flames down. When it was clear enough, traffic was allowed to pass on the inside shoulder.

Bessemer did a great job of getting to the scene quickly, which was a good way away, and extinguishing the fire.
