Southern Vintage Fire Apparatus Association

Marshall Page, from the local SVFAA chapter, sent the following pictures he took at their muster which, according to numerous people I've spoken with, was a huge success and a lot of fun for all.

If you love fire apparatus, I highly recommend looking into joining the SVFAA. They are a great group of people who love what they do. Ownership of an antique apparatus is not a requirement for membership.

Southern Vintage Fire Apparatus Association is the Alabama/Georgia Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus in America (SPAAMFAA). SVFAA is a non-profit organization.

Founded in 1958, SPAAMFAA is an educational and historical society dedicated to the preservation, restoration and operation of antique fire fighting apparatus. Since it's foundation, SPAAMFAA has grown to over three thousand members organized into fifty chapters. Although primarily located in the United States, SPAAMFAA members are located all around the world. Ownership of an antique fire apparatus is not a requirement for membership.

SVFAA brings together the region's fire buffs to preserve the rich history of the fire service in the south. Our members come from all walks of life with a common passion for "old fire stuff". Come join us!

Fill-the-Boot Campaign

Fill-the-Boot Campaign for MDA and Jerry’s Kids

Firefighters in and around the Birmingham area are collecting donations at local businesses for the annual Fill-the-Boot campaign to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and "Jerry’s Kids".

If you see the Firefighters at your local business, please consider making a donation to a good cause.

Irondale Trailer Fire

Irondale Fire & Rescue

Earlier this week, Irondale Fire responded to a trailer fire in the Eastwood Mobile Home Park off Alton Road. Upon arrival, Irondale found a well-involved trailer with numerous exposures. Complicating matters, along with near 100 degree heat and drought, the nearest hydrant was too far away to lay a line.

Irondale Firefighters worked smart with their water and brought the blaze under control quickly and successfully protected all endangered exposures.
