The following pictures are of Birmingham and Homewood Fire Departments working together to battle a large woods fire on Red Mountain that threatened several homes and a television station. Quick work and cooperation from both departments put an end to the blaze.

New BPD Precincts

Birmingham Police Department

The Birmingham Police Department has been making some improvements to their precincts this year. Earlier this year, the new Roosevelt City precinct was opened. More recently, the East precinct moved to their new building off Red Lane Road and this week the South precinct moved to their new building on 19th Street, South.

According to press reports, there are plans to possibly move the West precinct, too.

These new precincts are a well deserved and needed upgrade for the Birmingham police officers who risk their lives on a daily basis to protect the city.
