NSFD New Rescue Unit

North Shelby Fire & Rescue

North Shelby Fire has taken delivery of a beautiful new transport unit from Wheeled Coach. The new unit, their first, is currently in service at Station 2 as Rescue 72.

I want to thank Chief O'Connor for the opportunity to take the pictures as well as Robert and Shane for showing me the unit. It was great to catch up on old times with dear friends.

Antique Apparatus - Part 4

Irondale Fire & Rescue

Last year, the City of Irondale reacquired the first new engine the city owned and began the process of restoring it. Chief Davis and the firefighters at Irondale put a lot of time and sweat into restoring the engine back to it's original state with help from St. Clair Correctional.

Now that the restoration is complete, Irondale has a beautiful new show-piece that, not only the fire department but, the entire city can be proud of.

The apparatus is a 1961 American LaFrance "900" Series with a 12 Cylinder Dual Ignition, "J" Series Engine, 4 Speed Manual Transmission w/ low range.

I want to say a special word of thanks to Chief Davis and Brad Doss for the tour of the apparatus and to Chief Davis for all the time he spent arranging the apparatus for the following photographs.

Turn Back The Clock pt. 22

North Shelby Fire District - 1988

I got my start at North Shelby in 1982 as an Explorer Scout dispatcher and then a volunteer firefighter. I can honestly say that, along with two wonderful parents, the great guys at North Shelby mentored and helped make me who I am today. There is no way to put a price on their encouragement and guidance. I could never thank them enough for being the big brothers they were.

LT Bryan Reid with Cobb County Fire & Rescue sent the following pictures from when he worked at North Shelby Fire. Thank you for sharing the pictures, buddy!

Homewood Apartment Fire

Homewood Fire & Rescue

Homewood Firefighters responded to an apartment fire around Noon this afternoon in an apartment complex off Valley Avenue. First-in companies reported smoke showing and requested a line.

Homewood worked fast and saved the building. Great work!

Below are a few pictures that I was able to take before the apartment manager spotted me. I was lucky to get as much as I did. None of the local news crews could even get in the gates.
