Birmingham Apartment Fire

Carraway Blvd

These are some shots I took from an apartment fire on Carraway Blvd. The fire was back in the winter of 2003. They're mostly apparatus shots because the fire was out by the time I got there.

Officer Down

United States Marshal

U. S. Marshals were attempting to arrest a felon at a hotel on Crestwood Blvd when the suspect rammed several of their cars and ran over one of the Marshals. The deputy was rushed to UAB by Rescue 19 with a police escort where he was treated for his injuries and admitted.

There was a massive manhunt with Marshals, FBI, Birmingham, Irondale, Jefferson County, State Troopers and evey other law enforcement agency close enough to help.

The next morning, the suspect was found in a Homewood motel.

One of the rammed vehicles...

There was an intense search with everything that moved getting searched...

Birmingham Apartment Fire

33rd St and Ave E - Ensley

Engines 16, 17, 24, Quint 20, Rescue 16 and Battalion 1 responded to an apartment fire in the 400 blk of 33rd Street Ensley, Wednesday. Engine 16 arrived and reported fire showing.

The crews did a great job of jumping on it quick and saved the building from being a loss.

Birmingham PD Standoff

1700 blk Jefferson Ave S.W.

Friday, August 6th, there was a stand off with a man with a gun. He fired several shots at the officers. Fortunately, none of Birmingham's finest were injured.

After the PD fired tear gas into the house, the man came out on the porch with a gun. That was when he shot at the police again, leaving them no choice but to defend themselves.

He was D.O.S.

In this picture, you can see where he shot the police car's tire...

One Station Left!

I'm coming 32!

I haven't forgotten you. Hopefully, I'll be able to get by there tomorrow or Wednesday. When I get 32 on the map, she'll be complete.

Station 5, at the airport, which houses Birmingham, State and Federal firefighters. The station is the brown roofed building behind the 2nd KC-135 from the right. This is the best angle I could get without getting inside the fence. There appears to be 9 or 10 bay doors. I would LOVE to be able to get some shots of the apparatus there... hint, hint. :-)

Station 18

Station 28

Station 29... they had someone try to drive through the front of the station. That's why there's a red tarp over the front.
