Jefferson County EMA

Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency

Well, the EMA is running full speed ahead. Officials have been working hard around the clock for the past few days and I'm sure there are several more ahead of them.

Here are a few pictures of the Jefferson County EMA...

Hurricane Ivan

Birmingham

In all my years in Birmingham, I've never seen buildings downtown with tape on their windows for protection. The weather guys keep saying it's going to be bad here... 70 mph winds is the latest I've heard. And of course, rain, rain, rain and rain.

This afternoon, downtown was buzzing with activity. A building near 5th and 19th had an incident that brought in units from all over. Birmingham Fire & Rescue's Quint 1, Engine 13, Rescue 13, 2's HazMat and 13's Decon, the FBI, Birmingham PD, the BPD Bomb Squad and Jefferson Co. EMA were on the scene.
