EMA Awareness Day 2006

Jefferson County EMA

The Jefferson County (AL) Emergency Management Agency held it's annual Community Awareness Day this past October downtown at Linn Park. Each year, the team at the Jefferson County EMA brings apparatus, equipment and experts together to put on an impressive display as well as educate the public.

"The primary goal of Community Awareness Day is to improve the level of disaster awareness among school children and adults by increasing their knowledge of disaster preparedness and preventive techniques."

Everyone had a great time and the weather couldn't have been nicer.

Birmingham Fire & Rescue

Birmingham Firefighters responded to an apartment fire on 1st Avenue South in an abandoned apartment complex. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the blaze. The cause is under investigation by Birmingham Fire & Rescue.
