We were an honored part of the final farewell provided for Chris on December 1st in Calera. It was truly heartwarming to see all of the vehicles and personnel from all over the state of Alabama, coming to show their support for Chris, a fallen brother. Over 100 trucks were in the procession. At least we can find peace in knowing that we have one of the best firefighters on duty up in Heaven.

I went to high school with Chris. His smile could light up my face anyday. We made a lot of good memories together. Now, and forever, I will hold them dearto my heart. My prayers go out to everyone in Calera, as we all lost a great man.

From the mother of Christopher Roy:
To every person who said a prayer, shed a tear, hugged us close, baked a dish, extended a hand, stopped for a visit, wrote a note, shared our grief, lifted us up...we thank you.
Chris was the light of my life, my hero and I give thanks to God for giving him to me.

I have know the Roy family all my life grew up with Chris since preschool and when i heard the news, it was unreal and it is going to be hard to live without another smiling on this earth...I pray his death will not be in vain, as his life was full of Smiles and "rolling on the floor" laughter.. in my heart will always be something- I heard when you get that warm and fuzzy felling inside that is your loved ones hugging you as tight as they can to let you know they are here...still!
To James, Joyce and Richard--Love you so much!

i called my mom like i do everyday and she said that a calera firefighter had been killed earlier in the day. the first thing i asked, who it was and she said chris roy. i didn't know him but i have a good friend that is on calera fre and it scared me for a moment.
i am sorry for what happened, but all emergency vehcles are supposed to slow down when they come to all intersection, it doesn't matter if it is red or green. i know chris's mother is sad for losing her son but the truck driver didn't do anything wrong and neither did chris. it is called an accident for a reson.
