From the Birmingham News:

Pelham firefighter dies after motorcycle accident

By Walter Bryant

A Pelham firefighter and paramedic died early Monday at a Birmingham hospital from injuries he received Sunday in a wreck near Clanton, authorities said.

Michael Oliver, 37, who lived in Prattville, was on a southbound entrance ramp to Interstate 65 when his motorcycle and a tractor trailer collided about 12:45 p.m. Sunday, said Pelham Fire Chief Gary Waters.

He was initially taken to Chilton County Medical Center and then airlifted to UAB Hospital, where he died at 3 a.m. Monday.

Waters said Oliver joined the Pelham Fire Department about five years ago after working for the Montgomery Fire Department. He was assigned to Station No. 2 at 2998 Pelham Parkway beside Greenpark Road.
