Cullman Firefighters Injured

Cullman Fire Department

From the Cullman Times:

Three Cullman firefighters were injured Saturday when their fire truck rolled over at the intersection of Highway 157 and Childhaven Road.

Although the truck is a total loss, Cullman Fire Department Chief Mike Hackney said Saturday evening that all three officers had been treated and released from Cullman Regional Medical Center.

“I’ve talked with a couple of them since they got home, and all three are OK, but they’re going to be sore for a couple of days,” Hackney said in a telephone interview from home.

Hackney said family members of the firefighters had requested their names not be released.

The accident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. while officers were responding to a fire call at Cullman Regional Medical Center. The fire truck left the road, struck a utility pole and overturned before coming to rest along the roadside.

The Cullman Police Department and Vinemont Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene of the accident, which is under investigation by CPD.

Hackney said wet roads might have caused the accident.

Below are a few pictures of the engine from the scene and from the city yard. I thank God that they are ok. It could have been a lot worse than it was.

This is a picture I took of Engine 514 back in May of this year...
